The world of anti-aging skincare treatments is vast. Some treatments are extremely invasive, such as surgeries. Such procedures often involve a lot of time, preparation, and expenses, as well as certain degrees of risk. Often they can be avoided in favor of other less invasive clinical skincare procedures. Even those less invasive options may be avoidable or at least postponed by at-home skincare regimens. Before you can choose the best anti-aging method or combination of methods for your skin you need to take a more in-depth look at some of those options, several of which are outlined below.

Clinical Skincare Procedures That Provide “Peels”

Several clinical skincare procedures fall into the category of “peels,” which are treatments that revitalize the surface of the skin by removing dead skin cells, along with other debris. Chemical peels are among the most common peel options. However, if you do not like the idea of applying chemicals to your skin you can opt for microdermabrasion instead. Microdermabrasion provides a similar end result by essentially sanding debris off of your skin’s surface. A third option is to have a laser peel, which uses heat and light to accomplish the same goal as the other peel types.

Other Ways in Which Lasers Provide Anti-Aging Assistance

Cosmetic lasers have been part of the skincare market for decades. That is why lasers designed specifically to perform laser peels are not the only cosmetic lasers for sale on the skincare market and used in skincare clinics on a daily basis. Some lasers are specifically designed to provide more widespread anti-aging assistance by treating deeper skin tissues and getting the bodies of patients to start repairing skin cells internally. If you think you might be interested in such a treatment a trained skincare clinician can tell you more about how that process works and whether or not you are a candidate for it based on the type and condition of your skin.

Injections Can Also Provide Anti-Aging Support

Another way in which you can get the upper hand in the anti-aging battle is to use injections to improve your skin’s appearance. There are a variety of injectable materials that are approved for use as skin fillers. Some of them contain collagen or other skin-strengthening substances. They are often used to fill in sunken skin much like filling up a balloon with water or air. However, some fillers can also be absorbed into the body over time, and their healthy components, such as hyaluronic acid, can be utilized to strengthen your skin. A second anti-aging option involving injections is Botox. Botox is a toxin, but it is approved for use as an anti-aging treatment in small does. When it is injected into the skin the surrounding muscle tissues are temporarily frozen in place, causing mild to moderate wrinkles to temporarily become smoother.

It is important to note that both Botox and filler injections only provide temporary anti-aging solutions. Wrinkles treated by them will eventually return. Therefore, if you decide to undergo such treatments you should be prepared for the ongoing expense of maintenance appointments. However, laser procedures and many other skincare techniques must also be repeated for optimum results. So you should not let the need for repeated treatments deter you from considering such options.

Caring for Your Skin at Home

Caring for your skin at home is an essential part of the anti-aging process. You must protect your skin from sun damage and other external damage sources as much as possible. By keeping your skin properly hydrated and medicated you can also slow down the development of many skin problems or make the results of clinical skincare treatments more long lasting. Many skincare creams are available for purchase online and from local stores, but you must read the ingredient lists carefully to find the best creams for your skin. Depending on your current skin health you may also need to ask a dermatologist about prescription skincare creams.
